What are Project 24 (P25) Radios?

P25 is referred to as Project 25, or APCO P25 is a user based standard 2-way digital radio, it is not an industry based standard or the federal government.

P25 gives you the opportunity to have better communications within and between agencies especially for emergency service providers and security systems.

What are Some of the Features that Distinguish P25 Technology?

  • More options and acquisition possibilities: With an already established standard, government agencies can now choose between various suppliers and products when choosing their communications equipment, saving money and with the freedom to select from the widest range of features.
  • Easy to operate: A minimum of training is required for the operation of P25.
  • Digital and Analogue: The P25 radios can communicate in analog mode with other existing radios and they, in turn, can communicate with other P25 radios in analog or digital mode.
  • P25 is efficient in “conversation” mode without equipment that intervenes between two radios, in a conventional mode where two radios communicate by means of a repeater.
  • Improvement in radio spectrum efficiency: P25 networks will have sufficient capacity to handle calls and allow space to grow even in areas where the spectrum is overcrowded.

Commitment to P25 Technology

There is an option in the radio market for public safety. Homeland Safety System is proud to offer reinforced Tait, Hytera, and Harris Brand Radios for Correctional Facilities that meet or exceed the requirements for purchases from government agencies. The development will offer government leaders and purchasing agents the opportunity to obtain the best performance from their budgets, with the potential to incorporate more operating units for the same price. Digital technology is here to stay.
